Saturday Stew 11

Dear Jesus, I thank You for what you have given up for us, that we might have life everlasting, ever so complete!! Forgive us for forsaking You ❤ I pray that our eyes and hearts are open to what You are speaking to us and teach us each day ❤

Yuck!! Yellow gunk, hardened. Black crumbs, speckling the grey Teflon coating of my waffle iron! I had poured vegetable oil over the griddle to let it soak, thinking that would help remove the grossness, to no avail. Scrubbing did little to remove any of the baked on grease and remaining food.

Yes, I now know how to make waffles in there, but to clean a waffle iron…this was…is an embarrassing topic. Yet do you know, I found out something. The Holy Spirit had me plug the waffle iron in and heat it up as if I was going to make some waffles. I waited a few minutes until it was good and hot, then all I did was wipe it down. Simple. All that time before spent scrubbing and being stressed, not getting my waffles due to a dirty iron…what wasted time.

I find when I go through the heat of life that the Holy Spirit carries me through, peeling me out of those difficult situations, as I am trusting Him.  It is those times when I am coldhearted, when my focus is off, when there is a lesson I have to learn that I have to wait a little bit longer. Whatever the reason, God has a plan, for how He is “cleaning” things up in my life. Whether it be on this earth, or whether I get to celebrate with my Dad and Grandparents and all my loved ones in heaven, I know I will be filled with joy everlasting as I am practicing my faith praising my King ❤

Luke 10:41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

If only going through the difficult times were so easy ❤

A Waffle Recipe?

It was perfection!!!

The directions were simple:

1) blend 2 ½ cups mix, 1 ¼ cups cold water (I use milk) and 2 tablespoons oil together. Batter will be slightly lumpy. (Do not overmix.)

2) pour batter onto lightly greased and preheated waffle iron.

3) cook waffles until steaming stops, about 5 minutes, or until golden brown.

The guidelines were simple. I was Martha Stewart!! How I danced around the kitchen!!! Each morning people were greeted with fluffy pancakes that had mini cups built into them holding syrup and butter…that’s how I see a waffle. But, that only lasted three days.

I had become so confident of myself, that I forgot the 3 simple steps.

The waffles began sticking to the iron and pulling apart in the middle! (the middle did look nice and fluffy 🙂 )

“Nooooo!!!” I cried as I nervously I oiled the iron really well. Hastily I stirred the liquid again, poured more mix on the hot iron as drops of yellow liquid fell from the iron as I spun it around. A sizzling could be heard, to which I hoped that was a good sign. Four minutes passed. I turned it and peeked in to find it pulling open to the same crumbly mess! Quickly I closed it, thinking it just needed to bake a bit longer. I gave it two more minutes. Stress filled my veins and stiffened my limbs as I spun the knob around gently and decided that I needed to prepare something else to eat.

Many other days I tried, different ideas…until finally I just gave up. Where did I go wrong?! A dear friend would ask if I was making waffles today…”Nope, the waffle iron and I are not on speaking terms.” It hurt so bad. I wanted waffles soooo much!!!

Then came the National Waffle Day.

***Sigh***

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

I know it’s just a machine, but when my friend asked me again about waffles, I figured I better forgive this crazy little machine and make amends with it. That’s when I found out something.

***giggle***

See, this time I made sure I followed the instructions like I did the first time, and let me tell you, Martha Stewart would be proud!! My mom, I know would be proud!!

That’s the thing….Before, when my waffles were falling apart, that’s when I let pride get in the way…I moved away from the Instructions. My waffles fell apart.

Proverbs 19:27 NIV Says Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

That is the key!! Every morning I need to look at the Recipe so that I don’t mess things up with pride. Because I can do this, but not without help from the One who created mana 😉

See, God doesn’t want me to walk around defeated. Deuteronomy 31:6 says “Be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Again, we’re talking about a waffle machine…but this also does apply to everyday life. I can hold my head up high after I’ve read the Recipe book and smile knowing that He is with me…whether things are messed up or perfect…He is with me. And He is with you. So hold your head up high! I love you ❤

I’ll just say, waffles are back in the house 🙂
