The Medicine Doctor

***Wipes away dust, coughing from excess amounts***

It has been far too long since I have written a post! Sure, I have posted a few awesome selections, yet….please forgive me for staying away. I have been sick and am still sick, but I have the most awesome doctors taking care of me, along with countless people praying for me, not to mention a TOTALLY COOL God healing me too. As I have in the past, my focus was on my storm, and not on the One who could calm my storm.

I have missed looking through your eyes, reading your posts and sharing my world with you. Saturday Stews have not been warming hearts as they should be or Flashback Fridays….those are always fun and too many have passed.

You all are such a beautiful treasure worth far beyond any material possession this earth has to offer and I look forward to getting to know each of you as much as I can 🙂

Saturday Stew 8

Jesus, I know it’s getting late and there is so much to be done tomorrow, but You…You know that. You will be with us, guiding us, showing us each step. Everything will be ok. Take a deep breath. Release. Take another one. Exhale. Thank You Jesus that You died upon the Cross and made a way…with You, I can do this. Thank You ❤

Galatians 5: 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Today I woke up and heard the wind howling.  I wondered if my friend would want to go walking today.  Quickly I texted a supportive text stating I would go, yet it was understandable considering the circumstances.  Soon one of us called the other and we decided to meet through the blizzard conditions. There was too much to get done.

Our hair whipped about as our fingers began to turn blue after we parked our car.  Once the wind almost slammed the car door into another car! Fortunately we were parked far enough away 😉

Just as my friend was getting ready to drop me off after our errands, she received a call and asked me if I wanted to help with a situation….I was looking forward to putting my feet up…but I decided to help. So back out I went and had a most wonderful evening with tremendous people!

Now, I could have chose to stay home, from the very beginning of the day. That would have been fine. Yet, I was missing so much by passing opportunities like the ones I participated in today. Thank you!

What freedom have you recently experienced?

Saturday Stew 7

 Last week I was so busy with the Ranger Derby Race that I missed posting Saturday Stew…and possibly Flashback Friday! My Apologies.  You can read about the Ranger Derby here:

Then there was so many other things I needed to do, when I got hit BIG TIME with the WHAMMIE sick stick.  I am just beginning to feel a titch like myself, but at the same time….the enemy likes to jump in and remind me of all the responsibilities I’ve missed out on.  But God’s God a GREATER PLAN! HE reminded me of this song and showed me this version.

What song carries you though the night?

Saturday Stew 5
Jesus,
We praise You for all that You have done, for thinking of us at the very beginning of time, when there was nothing….seeing us through until we are something because of Your great love for us. Lord, I pray that as we go through our days and nights, wherever we are….geographically, emotionally, spiritually, physically….may we be emptied out of our selfish ways and be filled with Your compassion, forgiveness, strength, endurance, healing, trust, boldness, love and whatever else we may need to complete that task You have given us to do.

Recently, I attended my first writer’s group where we began our discussion with where the topics of the movies and books have traveled through the years. I love the black and white movies where they are singing, and I go through a case of Kleenexes (I know it’s pathetic, really). Drama movies always get me as well. I’ve even been known to bring Kleenexes to Superhero movies.

Ok. Ok. Before you click yourself away from my site with all this icky sap….there is a purpose for stating the above. I love to write, mostly poetry because I have yet to find a way of when I start……um, where was I?

While stirring the pot for today’s Saturday stew, I thought about the blogs I’ve been reading and what I want to share. Here are just a few –

The post by Spiritbath tells of a soldier’s disobedience because he understood what love is. http://spiritbath.com/2014/02/20/i-have-never-seen-an-example-of-loving-your-enemy-that-touched-me-this-profoundly/ ;

AB’s post “Extinction” a poem about a war that never ends. http://abozdar.wordpress.com/2014/02/20/extinction/ ;

OM’s post about children being in the middle of countries at war. http://aopinionatedman.com/2014/02/17/now-this-if-i-were-the-type-to-cry/ ;

Gimme Shelter Movie trailer https://2l2phant.wordpress.com/?s=Gimme+Shelter

Gimme Shelter poem https://2l2phant.wordpress.com/?s=Hope+For+The+Apple

and an incredible article by Holistic Wayfarer about a mother’s love and forgiveness. http://holisticwayfarer.com/2014/02/14/the-power-of-unstoppable-love/

“The tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to break a heart; so be careful with your words.”

Proverbs 18:21 “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit-you choose.”

My words are powerful.

I’m not exactly sure where we are today in film or literature, but I know I can choose to start building bridges with my pen.

Your words are powerful. What would you like to add to this Saturday Stew?

Saturday Stew 4

Sweet Lord, I thank You for all that You have done, for loving us like no one else does, for never leaving us, nor forsaking us….though we’ve run so far from You. I pray that as we feel the farthest from Life, full of the most pain…feeling sooo abandoned, that we know that we CAN call on You and you WILL answer us. I pray that we set aside ourselves and allow Your tender arms to hold, guard and heal us…that we may rejoice with You once again.

Yesterday my husband took me to the movie Gimme Shelter.  I totally recommend it!  Without giving away the movie (every part is incredible!), I would like to discuss it just a titch.

Apple, the main character, begins the movie in a setting and wants a change. When she tries to leave her current situation, the people there try to stop her…

The question I bring to the table this week is how do you overcome difficulties when you know you need to face a challenge? Where do you find support?

My challenge is my health.  The church I attend has a precious group called The Holy Huddle. We are only accountable to God, but are supportive to each other…and it’s through our Facebook site 🙂  When I am struggling with my health I pray, go to the Scriptures or my friends and family for prayer ❤

If you are facing a challenge and would like someone to pray through with you please email me at 2L2phant@midco.net
