My Red Shades

“Fear doesn’t shut you down; it wakes you up. I’ve seen it. It’s fascinating.” He releases me but doesn’t pull away, his hand grazing my jaw, my neck. “Sometimes I just…want to see it again. Want to see you awake.” It’s five in the morning here and I’m awake. Very awake.

A madman breaks into a house, I am in there with my aunts, my mom, my sister, my six-year-old niece and my paralyzed grandfather. We know nothing about self-defense or martial arts so that leaves us very helpless our visitor. That was the scene I saw in my dream or should I say, nightmare.

I was definitely out of breath and in the verge of crying when I realized I had to wake up. When I opened my eyes, my breath was back to normal but I was still seeing the same scene. I tried to turning sideways to loosen up my tense muscles but I was still dreaming lucidly. I prayed and asked God to make me realize what my dream meant.
