the leaves of my poem

Always balm to to my every day šŸ™‚

A Holistic Journey

i chew the leaves of my poem they fan green and spirited in the height of their hour veins visible like these that inscribe my hand, run with the life of dreams that have nowhere to go but back down to the branch to the root you don't see look: their asymmetry of being red oak stained with rain pollen much like the blemishes on my face t o r n by time and caterpillars that become f u l l and bloom into butterflies the leaves testify to all the seasons green ash have weathered the wild waltz of wind and rain hungry for the sun they drink from the clouds i feel the laugh lines on the maple and swallow their history - this one, curled copper like rusted edges but it's just the candor of time grain and weave of memories cru n ch between my teeth…

A Waffle Recipe?

It was perfection!!!

Ā

The directions were simple:

1) blend 2 ½ cups mix, 1 ¼ cups cold water (I use milk) and 2 tablespoons oil together. Batter will be slightly lumpy. (Do not overmix.)

2) pour batter onto lightly greased and preheated waffle iron.

3) cook waffles until steaming stops, about 5 minutes, or until golden brown.

Ā

The guidelines were simple. I was Martha Stewart!! How I danced around the kitchen!!! Each morning people were greeted with fluffy pancakes that had mini cups built into them holding syrup and butter…that’s how I see a waffle. But, that only lasted three days.

Ā

I had become so confident of myself, that I forgot the 3 simple steps.

Ā

The waffles began sticking to the iron and pulling apart in the middle! (the middle did look nice and fluffy šŸ™‚ )

Ā

ā€œNooooo!!!ā€ I cried as I nervously I oiled the iron really well. Hastily I stirred the liquid again, poured more mix on the hot iron as drops of yellow liquid fell from the iron as I spun it around. A sizzling could be heard, to which I hoped that was a good sign. Four minutes passed. I turned it and peeked in to find it pulling open to the same crumbly mess! Quickly I closed it, thinking it just needed to bake a bit longer. I gave it two more minutes. Stress filled my veins and stiffened my limbs as I spun the knob around gently and decided that I needed to prepare something else to eat.

Ā

Many other days I tried, different ideas…until finally I just gave up. Where did I go wrong?! A dear friend would ask if I was making waffles todayā€¦ā€Nope, the waffle iron and I are not on speaking terms.ā€ It hurt so bad. I wanted waffles soooo much!!!

Ā

Then came the National Waffle Day.

Ā

***Sigh***

Ā

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Ā

I know it’s just a machine, but when my friend asked me again about waffles, I figured I better forgive this crazy little machine and make amends with it. That’s when I found out something.

Ā

***giggle***

Ā

See, this time I made sure I followed the instructions like I did the first time, and let me tell you, Martha Stewart would be proud!! My mom, I know would be proud!!

Ā

That’s the thing….Before, when my waffles were falling apart, that’s when I let pride get in the way…I moved away from the Instructions. My waffles fell apart.

Ā

Proverbs 19:27 NIV Says Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

Ā

That is the key!! Every morning I need to look at the Recipe so that I don’t mess things up with pride. Because I can do this, but not without help from the One who created mana šŸ˜‰

Ā

See, God doesn’t want me to walk around defeated. Deuteronomy 31:6 says ā€œBe strong and of good courage, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.ā€

Ā

Again, we’re talking about a waffle machine…but this also does apply to everyday life. I can hold my head up high after I’ve read the Recipe book and smile knowing that He is with me…whether things are messed up or perfect…He is with me. And He is with you. So hold your head up high! I love you ā¤

Ā

I’ll just say, waffles are back in the house šŸ™‚

Beside Noah

My friend OM posted this post, http://aopinionatedman.com/2014/03/28/the-daily-opinion-if-i-were-an-animal/ asking ā€œIf you could be an animal for a day what would it be?ā€ You may click the link to find his answer, along with many other answers.

Ā

The first answer quickly to roll off the tip of my tongue would be an elephant because of their amazing memory and size, their strength and wrinkles….oooohhh!! Their long noses!!

Ā

But like I said in his post, the butterfly is so light. It can be carried by the wind, wearing such beautiful colors!!

Ā

The cheetah’s speed would be wildly awesome to experience, especially after a stressful moment where I just want to run and run and run with such radiant colors!!

Ā

When I was a child I would collect slugs. Now I think they are gross to hold…but I still think they are fun to watch…to be able to take my time, as slow as possible, enjoying nothing…yet….everything.

Ā

To have the coat of a giraffe with my neck held WAY HIGH, strolling silently with such nobility….greeting birds at the tops of trees.

Ā

The mole, a subterranean animal, stays underground most of the time and uses very little air…reusing its own air…and doesn’t rely on its vision because it’s underground a lot. If I had to depend on another part of me to get around……incredible!!! This little one is a real go getter!!!

Ā

To have the whale’s call; to float through the ocean….listening to the music of the deep….I’ve never been down there actually…but I’m sure it’s amazing šŸ˜‰

Ā

To be a mouse that can run and hide quickly, reach places that others couldn’t….

Ā

A Liger loves socializing and has a beautiful sleek coat ….to have the paws and nails….

Ā

Oh, the majestic bald eagle, with its wing spans commanding the wind to carry it higher, only to drop stories into the deep water for a meal!

Ā

The polar bears with their ice fishing!! I LOVE FISHING!!!!

Ā

This may sound horrid….but I thought about a rattlesnake…I know, I know, but God made them too…I thought about the desert sands, to be able to slither across…the fangs and rattle….ok, ok….

Ā

1 Corinthians 12: 12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body–whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free–and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Ā

With that being said, each and every creature, every living being-from those listed-to everyone not on the page (which….is quite a lot!!!), everyone is INCREDIBLE!! UNIQUE!! AWESOME!! VOGUE!! GQ!!

Ā

But, here’s the thing…if I’m busy being any of these SO VERY TOTALLY SPECTACULAR, REMARKABLE, IRREPLACABLE, EXCLUSIVE creations….then….who’s going to be me?

Ā

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 ā€œFor I know the plans I have for you,ā€ declares the Lord, ā€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.ā€

Ā

Psalm 139: 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

Ā

I praise God for each and every one of you….I readĀ  through your blogs, they are incredible!! Inspiring!! Amazing!!Ā  But I am also thankful that He has created me šŸ˜‰ Praise God ā¤

These People Should Hire Me

Forever Friends

Ever since my accident I have been totally unmotivated to create new pieces. Ā I have also struggled with writing new posts. Ā I guess the accident kind of turned my world upside down, literally and figuratively. Ā I’ve read some really great posts by bloggers I follow, which make me want to write, to express myself, to put something out there that means something! Ā That is a lot of pressure I put on myself, and it weighs me down, keeping me from actually creating. Ā As I sit here typing I have no idea where this post is going, but I need to keep writing.

I read a short but sweet post by Laxman Prajapati called The Best FriendshipĀ earlier today and it got me thinking. Ā He speaks of ā€œforever friendsā€ and how beautiful those relationships are. Ā I agree with him on that, and I started thinking about the peopleĀ I thoughtĀ were…

Roller Coaster From Hell – My Accident

Contortum Designs

So I was in a car accident last Thursday afternoon, approximately 3:15pm EST.

image

It’s actually a little more complicated than ā€œa car accident.ā€ Ā I guess I should just start at the beginning.

My car was a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo, which my dad bought new and drove up until a few years ago, when he gave it to me. Ā I didn’t wantĀ it, it was big and heavy with no turn radius to speak of and each door weighed like a thousand pounds. Ā Oh, and I suppose a black car with black leather interior is fine for Iowa (which is where my dad bought and drove it), but Florida – no, not so much. Ā On the other hand, it got me from A to B and it had working AC as well as a radio (I gave up on CDs a long time ago). Ā And since both of my jobs…

A Map Of Footprints

Pillars stood boldly before a sea of steps
as the child followed into the footprints of a man.
Blood, sweat, and tears were caught in time;
saved for this day to christen his sword –
Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
His Mentor spoke gently, with a tender voice,
ā€œWell done good and faithful servant.
Your journey’s just begun.ā€
